The best TOPIK practice material is free and comes from the people who write the test. NIIED publishes real past papers on topik.go.kr, complete with audio, transcripts and model writing answers. They are hard to find, though. The menu is easy to miss, the post titles stay in Korean even when you switch the site to English, and links shared online often drop you on the home page.

Here is exactly where the papers are, which rounds and files exist, what NIIED doesn't publish, and a wrong-answer notebook method to get the most out of the limited number of papers.

Where the papers are

When we went through the site in October 2026, the route was:

The TOPIK Learning Archive page in English mode, listing 42 posts including the 102nd TOPIK I and II past papers The Learning Archive on topik.go.kr in English mode, October 2026. The menus are in English, but the post titles stay in Korean: 기출문항 means past questions, so look for 제102회 TOPIK II 기출문항.

  1. Go to topik.go.kr. If you follow a deep link from elsewhere, the site first sends a new visitor to its home page. That isn't an error; carry on from the menu.
  2. Open the menu and choose Study TOPIK (학습하기).
  3. Choose Learning Archive (학습 자료실). In Korean the board is titled 학습 자료실, and it had 42 posts when we checked.
  4. The tabs across the top are All, Common, TOPIK PBT, TOPIK IBT and TOPIK Speaking. All 42 posts were under TOPIK PBT, and the IBT and Speaking tabs were empty.
  5. Open a post such as 2025년도 제102회 TOPIK II 기출문항 ("102nd TOPIK II past questions, 2025") and download the attachments at the bottom.

Two posts are pinned at the top and worth downloading first: 쓰기 답안 작성 방법, NIIED's guide to writing answers with the official marking criteria, and the revised assessment framework, which lists every question number with its type. Both are explained in TOPIK II writing 51–54.

You don't need to log in to download anything.

Which rounds exist

201541stYesYesSeparate PDFs; audio in a separate post
201435th, 36th, 37thYesYesPDFs; audio (and, for the 35th, the answers) in separate posts

That's 12 rounds for each level. Every paper since the 35th uses the current two-level system (TOPIK I and TOPIK II), so even the 2014 papers have the same overall structure as today's test, although NIIED revised its framework and question wording from the 75th test.

What each recent post contains

Taking the 102nd TOPIK II post as the example, there are five files:

FileWhat it isUse it for
1교시 듣기, 쓰기 (PDF)The period 1 booklet: listening 1–50 and writing 51–54Timed practice
2교시 읽기 (PDF)The period 2 booklet: reading 1–50Timed practice
1교시 듣기 통합 (PDF)The listening booklet with the full script printed above each questionChecking misses, shadowing
정답 및 배점표 (PDF)Answers and points for listening and reading, plus model answers for writing 51–54Marking
듣기파일 (zip)One MP3 per trackListening practice

The booklets are the odd-numbered type (홀수형), marked B on the cover.

What isn't available

  • No papers between 2019 and 2022. The list jumps from the 64th to the 83rd.
  • Only about one round a year. NIIED's FAQ explains that from the 38th test (2015), past questions stopped being made public so they could build a question bank, and appeals against scores and questions were abolished at the same time.
  • Some passages are blanked out. In the 102nd TOPIK II reading booklet, the passages for questions 23–24 (an essay) and 42–43 (fiction) are replaced by a notice saying they aren't disclosed under the Copyright Act. The questions and answers are still there.
  • No IBT papers to download. The site has an "Experience TOPIK IBT" tutorial instead. See IBT vs paper TOPIK.
  • No Speaking downloads. "Solve TOPIK Speaking" runs one practice paper in the browser and asks for microphone access. See TOPIK Speaking.
  • No English answer explanations. You get the correct option and nothing else. The explanation is the passage or transcript itself.

New papers arrive in spring. The 91st paper went online on 9 May 2024 after a short "solve online" preview in April, the 96th on 7 May 2025, and the 102nd on 25 March 2026.

Solve online instead of printing

Solve TOPIK Questions (토픽 기출문제 풀어보기), in the same Study TOPIK menu, runs the same rounds in a pop-up window: 102nd, 96th, 91st, 83rd, 64th, 60th, 52nd, 47th, 41st and the three 2014 rounds. It covers listening and reading only, for both levels, with audio for the listening. Writing isn't included, so practise that from the PDF and mark it yourself against the model answers.

A note on copyright. Every post says the questions are protected. Commercial use needs NIIED's permission (topikcopyright@korea.kr), and copying, redistributing or collecting them for AI training without prior permission is prohibited. Download them for your own study, and don't re-upload or share the files.

The wrong-answer notebook method

With only 12 papers per level, you can't afford to "do a paper, check the score, move on". A wrong-answer notebook (오답 노트) turns each mistake into something you won't repeat. This is the method I'd recommend.

What to record for every miss

FixA rule for next timeCheck every figure in the option
Review dates+1 day, +7 days, +30 days

Use a fixed set of categories for "why I missed it", so the patterns show up:

  • Vocabulary: a word I didn't know
  • Grammar: an ending or connector I misread
  • Detail trap: right words, but wrong time, person, number or negation
  • Main idea: I picked a true detail instead of the central point
  • Didn't hear / ran out of time
  • Careless: knew it, marked it wrong

After three or four papers, count the categories. If half your misses are detail traps, more vocabulary won't help. You need slower option-checking. If most are "ran out of time", work on pacing (see the reading timing plan).

A weekly cycle

DayTaskTime
1One full paper under test conditions (listening, writing, reading)3 hours
2Mark it; log every miss with evidence; for listening misses, read the transcript and replay the track1.5 hours
3Learn the vocabulary and grammar from the log; rewrite writing 53 using the model answer's structure1 hour
4Redo only the missed questions, without looking at the log45 min
5–6Targeted practice on your biggest category1 hour/day
7Review entries from 7 and 30 days ago30 min

Work from the oldest papers to the newest and keep the two most recent rounds as full mock tests in your last month. When you redo a question you've seen before, you only learn something if you explain why each wrong option is wrong, out loud or in writing.

For the vocabulary side of the log, the archive also has NIIED's word lists. See the official vocabulary lists.

Frequently asked questions

04
Where can I download official TOPIK past papers?

On topik.go.kr, open Study TOPIK (학습하기) and then Learning Archive (학습 자료실). Each released round has its own post with the question booklets, a listening transcript, the answer and scoring table, and the MP3 files.

Which TOPIK past papers are officially available?

When we checked in October 2026, the archive had TOPIK I and TOPIK II papers for the 35th, 36th and 37th (2014), 41st (2015), 47th (2016), 52nd (2017), 60th (2018), 64th (2019), 83rd (2022), 91st (2023), 96th (2024) and 102nd (2025) tests.

Why can't I find every TOPIK past paper?

NIIED's FAQ says that from the 38th test in 2015, past questions stopped being made public so they could be used to build a question bank. Since then only selected rounds, about one a year, have been released.

Are there official past papers for TOPIK IBT or TOPIK Speaking?

Not as downloads. The site offers an IBT tutorial and an online TOPIK Speaking practice test that needs a microphone, but the Learning Archive's IBT and Speaking tabs had no posts when we checked.
